William Norman Price, SET NPConsulting

I joined Grinnell Fire Protection, in Richmond, VA on 25 July 1972 as a Designer Trainee right out of VCU, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Extension Program. In 1977, I was promoted to Design Manager and held this position until I was offered a Sales position which lead into a Branch Manager position. I became the first NICET level IV in Virginia in 1981, after waiting until I reached the 10-year requirement and I received my Level IV certification. I left the Company during the Simplex/Grinnell Merger in 1998. Between, this and 2006 I held many diverse positions until I went to work for the US Army, MWR, CYS as “Subject Matter Expert” project managing and inspecting newly constructed Child Development Centers Worldwide. Our teams were stood down during the 2010 budget crunch. I am still in a flex position with the US Army. In 2010, I started my own Fire Protection Design Company, NPConsulting, which I continue to operate. My years of involvement in the fire protection business has been diverse and I have been associated and involved with some of the best this business has to offer in Life Safety design, Fire Suppression and Detection and Alarm. I currently provide design support for several Engineering Firms. I have been associated with ASCET through my NICET involvement and have become directly involved in ASCET in the Central Virginia within the past several years.
